No sound from The Muse by Triadex

Trying to figure out why this thing won't make any sound.
The LEDs work but I am unsure about the speaker, but the Ext Speaker output does not seem to output any signal either.
Cleaned all the contacts for all the sliders/switches but still no sound.

Anyone have any experience with these things? Thank in advance for any advice.

It probably needs a power amplifier or powered speakers. These things are usually line level output so you would need some sort of external amplifier.

Do you have power or integrated amp that you can connect to it? Got any pics of the jack panel?

Wow, a fellow Muse owner! Can't be too many others on AK. I picked mine up at, appropriately enough, the (in)famous MIT Swapfest nine years ago, along with the matching "Light Show Module". Here's a lousy photo of my Muse:

As can be seen, the unit has a built-in speaker, and doesn't need to have an external speaker connected (though Triadex offered a matching amplified speaker). Setting the sliders and pressing the Start switch should result in sound coming from the speaker as the lamps (not LEDs) start to blink/chase along with the programmed pattern. Do you get any sounds from the speaker when moving the Volume slider? My guess is that either the internal amplifier is faulty, or the speaker might be dead. By the way, I'm pretty sure the Ext. Speaker jack outputs a line-level signal, so you might want to try connecting it to a line-level input on a stereo receiver or amplifier. Good luck!
