No stereo sound from rare mcintosh mx 114 solid state stereo tuner

HI Everyone, I am not getting any stereo sound from my McIntosh mx-114 rare solid state fm only tuner pre-amplifier. All the transistors on the MPX Board check out ok! I have the service manual. I have read that the tuner is similar to MR 74. The signal path uses a single telefunken 6HU6 magic eye tuning indicator, cleaning the pins of this tube made no difference . The stereo indicator light bulb is ok. Does anyone knows why the sound is not coming in stereo and why the stereo light don't light up. Thanks in advance!

Mono works OK? Did you check the caps between the detector and MPX?

HI john , The tuner does have mono sound and the sound in mono from the fm tuner is truly AWESOME! the finest I have ever heard from any tuner wish I could hear it in stereo also.

What caps need to be checked , all the electrolytic capacitors on the MPX Board were replaced as was the 0.22uf/250 film yellow color capacitor which was replaced with a Vishay 0.33uf/400v capacitor , but that still did not solve the problem, any help to trouble shoot will be greatly appreciated!

It likely needs recapping and alignment and maybe some other service work to function correctly. Aging issue with many tuners, not just McIntosh. A maintenance item.
