I saw the Nobsound Silver Aluminum Spring isolation feet (Douk Audio) on Amazon for $32 before discount. At that price I gave them a try. I'm using them to isolate my turntable platform. They worked really well! No more loud thumps from the turntable if someone hits the the audio rack.

These feet could be helpful if your turntable is picking up footfall, sub or speaker vibration. The construction is excellent. The top and bottom are cut out of solid aluminum. You can choose how many springs to install - to cover a wide variety of applications. My turntable/platform is heavy so I installed all of the springs.

Here's a link. There are questions and answers in the Amazon listing. There are similar items on Amazon but they do not appear to be as well constructed.

Very cool.

Why this article? They sell so many cheap but very well sounding things. I buy from them regularly. They know how to pick stuff. Even if it's just simply rebranded. Nice tube-amps, phono-amps, chip amps. Loads of great stuff.

Picked up a set. Thanks. Curious how well they’ll work.

I read your Amazon review where it stated the frequency was around 6Hz. That frequency is near what suspended turntables shoot for so these could be very helpful. Just curious, how did you estimate the frequency? Thanks!

@Audiofreak71 has a couple of sets of these. One pair has the acrylic base I think, as there are a few variations of this design. As I recall he has had good results with them under a DAC, and under another component...forget which one. But as far as I know his experiences have been positive, and these little isolation footers are pretty modestly priced.

Cheers

I have a couple sets of these as @Mister Pig stated and I use one set under my dac and another under my Integrated amp , both have tubes in the chain and I have noticed a difference in the sound with them in place . I believe because I have tubes the isolation of these footers reduce background noise , that’s my theory and whether it’s true or not who knows , I trust what I hear and I hear a positive difference, therefore they stayed . I tried them under my table as well and had not so good an outcome, I had just as much bouncing from footfalls than without them so I didn’t keep them in place there. I would say for the money they’re at least worth a try if your looking for isolation at a modest price especially if you have tubes imo.

Curious as to where you got or made your isolation platform? . I use the same isolation footers and they work great for my needs as well .

Here’s how I have mine setup on my Dac and Amp. The best way to set it up for my Dac was positioned behind each foot which makes it looks like it’s floating when sitting down and for my Integrated directly under the feet was the best solution.

P.S. I’m using the footers with the full spring load and they have no problem supporting my Integrated at 65lbs minus the power supply which is an additional 35lbs so I have no doubt that these would support the full 100lbs if my power supply was build in for the full 100lbs . My Dac is 35lbs , I stated this as an example for those interested in the weight they can support .

Sorry, that was a different reviewer. I'd like to know the answer too.

I made the platform (and most of my audio rack) from spalted maple boards I had in my shop. I added some scrap cherry in the middle just in case it might help offset vibration from the other wood. All the wood came from trees that had to be taken down in our back yard.

I was thinking about making some sort of homemade spring suspension for the turntable platform. Before I spent the time, I searched Amazon to see what popped up. When I came across these spring feet I gave them a try. They worked so well I thought others might be interested. I searched AK and didn't see these spring feet mentioned (except in one other thread I posted in). I hadn't heard of Nobsound until I searched AK and read about all of the good electronics, etc they sell.

Too bad the feet didn't help with footfalls in your situation.. My floor is carpeted concrete so I didn't have a chance to test that scenario. Still worth a try in other situations - inexpensive and they could work. As you've shown, if they don't help with footfalls they still make great isolation devices. I am considering getting another set to see how they compare to the Herbie's Tenderfeet I am currently using under my components.

Good footwork is important. But for a good foundation you need mass somewhere. And for tuning frequency you need to experiment a bit. It's affected by 2 variables: mass and spring tension. So you can't just sling some springs under a base.

There is an easy way to tune though. Take a big slab of stone, or a solid plank and support it with spikes on 2 corners in the front and use 2 springs or foam blocks on the back. By sliding those closer together (to the spikes) the lower the resonance frequency gets. Like a swing where you vary the length of the pendulum. Easy. And if you use foam blocks you can vary with size and material. Larger surface means a tighter spring, harder foam too. Size too small and your platform will droop after some time due to constant pressure. Combining with springs negates that effect.

If you use springs for suspension you will need shock breakers too, like on a car. So a combination of both is a good idea. Only foam blocks don't tend to look very fancy.

Mine from Amazon arrived yesterday. Putting them together. Haven't tried them yet, at least they look cool.

Yea or nay?
Put a set under my Dual. The second pic is what I was using.

As long as they’re doing there job is what’s important to me . I have one set directly under my amp feet like you have yours and it works well . As far as looks? Well the aluminum finished ones look better than the ones I have under my dac imo which are acrylic but I don’t think they'll win any beauty contest.
