Noise (hum/crackle) in one speaker when phono source selected

Hello,

I have a Pioneer SX-850 and I am getting a hum/crackle noise in one speaker when I press the phono 1 or phono 2 source. Does it when turntable is hooked up or not. Appreciate any suggestions on what to do to diagnose.

Thanks

It could be a dirty switch, or it could be a problem with the phono preamp. I'd probably start by removing the top cover and then spraying a little Deoxit D5 into the switch behind each input button, then working each button a few times (do it with the unit unplugged). If that doesn't fix it, then it's the phono preamp, could be a failing capacitor or a bad solder joint. Has the receiver ever been serviced?

ETA: looking at some internal pics, the switches may not be accessible without further disassembly. Hopefully someone else here can offer additional suggestions.
