Noisey channel HK430

Hi all,

I am looking for a little advice on a problem I am having with a recent HK430 purchase. The unit was in good condition and when I opened it up the insides also looked in good condition with the correct fuses etc. All bulbs were also all working. After cleaning the pots with some DeOxit the sound is great using both the aux input (Raspberry pi system) and the tuner. However, when I use the phono channel I have started to get noise and sound dropouts on the left channel. Just to reiterate this issue only occurs with phono input. I am guessing this might be some form of problem with the phono preamp or perhaps something else? Do you folks have any advice?

You don't actually mention it, are you using a Turntable in the Phono?
If yes, have you tried the TT in another Amp/Receiver?
If you don't have another Amp try switching the L/R to see if the problem is with the 430 or the TT.
If the problem switches to the R channel then its the TT and not the 430

Another thing is to check the tape monitor push switch for cleanliness. On my 430, I sometimes need to give that a wiggle/tap/poke to get both channels to come in, particularly when I'm in phono mode.
