Noisy Table.

I have two tables. A Sony PS-LX5 with an AT125LC and an Audio Technica LP60. I only have the ATLP60 because I got it for dirt cheap and I'm going to use it to make profit.
However, I've noticed that the much cheaper LP60 picks up about half as much noise as the Sony. At first I thought it could be the preamp, but surely the preamp I bought is higher quality than the one built-in to the ATLP60. Is this a sign that I need to get a new stylus on my Sony? I'd like to resolve this soon because it's quite embarrassing to get better sound quality out of an ATLP60, and I'm selling it anyways.

The pros will chime in but in my experience it's the stylus/cart and tracking weight that makes the biggest diffeence
 
What kind of noise?
Pop and crackle?
Wooshing sound?
Could be the spindle needs lubricating.
A direct drive table platter should spin at least 5 full turns after power down running at 33rpm.
My PL-600 Direct Drive turns 10 full turns and its quiet. The Y5F only turns 2 and I can hear the bearing sound in the background which means it needs lubrication.

Pop and crackle. As in it seems to pick up more dust.
 
I brush them with a microfiber cloth. I know that's not as ideal as a brush, and I'll be getting one soon. The thing is that both tables are very close to each other and get hooked up to the same system and I brush the records before every play, so the difference in sound can only be attributed to something in the player, I think.
 
I have an AT125LC and I find that it is VERY revealing. Meaning it picks up every little imperfection in a groove. It's great for super clean records, but for most of my collection (which is still in pretty nice shape) it's quite maddening. It may be that the stylus on the cheap AT tt is sitting higher in the groove and hitting less of the debris.

I would try a better cleaning of some records than a brush. I use a spin clean, but you have many options here and there are several threads you could search for more info. Microfiber cloth is probably not the best way to go either. I agree with Jasonsong86 on that one. I personally prefer an old discwasher brush for dusting before play but, again, there are many options.
You might also try swapping the cart, if you can, to see if that helps.
