Nor Cal tube service

Hello I'm fairly new here and definitely new to tube receivers. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good shop in northern California ( preferably close to San Francisco ) that could go through and fix up an old Fisher 800c that I own. It sounds O.K., but I don't think it's ever been serviced and I have no idea what I'm doing. Thanks, Jeff

If the prospect of changing out components in a working receiver doesn't make you pee your pants, then stop by the Fisher Forum. Great bunch of guys very willing to walk you through a DIY restoration.

Yeah, if you have a controlled temperature soldering iron and some time you could probably do the work yourself.

If it sound ok and is used regularly i'd just keep it 'as-is'. Lots of
good stuff has been damaged by so called "upgrades" that is very seldom needed.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I'm sure I'll get a receiver to toy with in the future but I don't know enough to toy with this one and I want to be playing it asap.
Thanks, Jeff

Fred Thopson at High Sierra Audio in Reno.

Usually very busy so it's best to make an appointment to see when it's best to bring your Fisher in.
