Looks like a nice unit - good luck with the any repairs. Those German chassis are pretty tight. I'm working on a Blaupunkt right now.

really nice console! it has Isophon speakers so it must sound really good, it would be a real shame to part it out!

The aux in socket is a standard DIN socket, the connections are usually left-right in-ground-right-left out, but the inputs and outputs can be on the opposite side depending if the socket was wired for input only or as "diode recording" (that's the european name for a tape deck in-out connection

Yep. DIN/RCA adapters are readily available, and if you have a tape deck (or other source) with a DIN socket, Rat Shack has the cords.

Yours looks different than mine.

It may be the same electronically but its put together differently. And the speakers are differently arranged. So your model may sounds different than mine.

You should really try splicing an RCA cable or buying the DIN/RCA adaptor. The string being broken probably would destroy your tunning abilities. I messed with my string on mine and now the tunning is off by about .5 mhz all the time. Just try turning it on and manually turning the tunning part. (CAREFULLY THOUGH!!! ONE HAND IN POCKET! DO NOT DIE!!)

Or try the phonograph. Just see if it makes music! then worry about fixing the tuner.

Also does the static you heard get louder as you turn up the volume??

P.S. Since you posted this thread I've been wanting to put new surrounds and caps into mine. I hate letting it just sit there under a blanket. It really does sound fantastic.

Sorry to resurrect a dying/dead thread, but I may have a schematic I can scan for you. Your Sterling Isabella looks very much like my 633/2 Isabella, which came with a schematic. Mine also had one channel that wouldn't play, and I believe I've traced it to a bad capacitor on the input.

Thanks 6v6, but it came with a schematic, cap and tube list, etc. I haven't done anything with it. It's cleaned up and asleep under the sheets until I decide what to do with it.
