Norman Laboratories - 12 inch woofer re-foam advice

I have a pair of Norman Laboratories Model 7 speakers that need re-foaming. They have the 12 inch woofers.

I am looking for recommendations on the re-foam kits. Will any 12 inch surrounds work or do I need something special?

I would prefer to replace the dust covers and shim the voice coils during re-foam so looking for dust cover replacements as well.

Appreciate any suggestions for surrounds + dust cover source.

They're a one size fits most type of kit but I have had good luck with the Parts express kits.

Measure your woofers and see if the measurements on the parts express site are close.

Dumb question on the woofers - they have four multilayer, interlocking cardboard pieces that are glued to the tops of the speaker, on top of the surround. Do these serve a purpose? Do they need to be replaced after re-foam?

I was able to get them off without damage and will glue them back on but wondering their purpose.

If you use the correct solvent and let it work they will come up just fine.

Reuse them is what I always do.

Usually they are needed when the speaker is mounted on the back side of the panel. Not really needed when mounted on the outside but do help when placing the foam down on the rim.
