You could actually post the probelm here.

I'm also not familiar with the tension spring mechanism or how to fix it.

The pics in the linked thread don't show me what is broken, has the spring snapped? How is the other end fixed into its thread?

Dude, it is perfectly all right to actually say ORTOFON.

you know that the spring is used to set the vtf (vertical tracking force) ?
I believe when the back of the counterweight is turned the spring is pulled into the hole in the counterweight or released from it thereby increasing or decreasing vtf.
For this arm a broken spring is bad .
Have you tried contacting ortofon ?
