Hi Everyone,
I know the recommended sub is the 200V 2A sub 1N5393, but I want to place a small order at Reichelt, who don't stock this item, but stock numerous 2A alternatives.
Background, I just bought a non working AU-5900, and upon investigation found one 1A fuse blown (F604), and a couple of 10D1 rectifier diodes burnt. Even though the parts manual lists 10-D2, all diodes installed were 10-D1's which I believe are 1.5A rating. Also someone had wrapped wire externally around the 1A fuses !
Anyhow after changing out the burnt diodes for some 1N4004, and fixing some cold solders on the F-2596 board, the amp works fine, so a pretty cheap repair.
My question can the 1A diodes stay or should I put 2A diodes. Some alternatives Reichelt have are MUR240 & BY297-200. Are these suitable ?
I now have a wall of AU-X900 series amp from AU-3900 upto AU-7900. Can't get round to parting with any of them. My painpoint is the slight hum on the AU-7900 which I can't seem to get rid of. It originates from the pre-amp somewhere. All caps & transitors are new. I going to swap out the rectifier diodes to see if this helps.
