I'm in the process of trying to get replacement faceplate glass for a MC2205 and Tom Manley took a good amount of his time to instruct me with respect to installing it correctly. I have no idea when I'll get the glass, but I've made notes about it. He also took time to tell me how to pre-emptively extend the service life of my (newly acquired) C28. Tom didn't make any money from his investment of time in me today, but as soon as he gets glass (I presume he'll get his before my name comes up on Mac's list) I'll be doing business with him. He's very generous with his time and advice. Thanks again, Tom.

I requested the sale be canceled. Not meant to be. I'll get along with a preamp, tuner and phones. But I'm still thankful to Tom for the advice. Now I have to call and cancel the request for that faceplate.

I am somewhere on the list for a faceplate for my MC2205 also. Did you find one somewhere else? I have no idea how long before they get around to making these new factory plates. Thanks for any direction.

I canceled because I took pity on the seller, which was a mistake really. She was lost and was selling her Dad's stuff. She wanted me to meet her halfway and I just wasn't up to an 800-mile round trip. The price was righteous though. She'd said she'd ship it and she had no box, and from there I saw cascading "safe arrival" issues on the horizon. I'm too nice for my own good. I paid somewhat less for a 2155 that had its own problems. Solved now, I think...I hope...I pray...lol. Good luck...

I was recently in need of replacement glass for an MCD7008. MAC was out of them, luckily Tom had one in stock. He was most generous with his time & expertise, offering installation tips that only a seasoned professional would know.
A true gentleman that I would not hesitate to do business with in the future.

Can u pass along his instruction notes. I have 2205, new glass, but unit didn’t have the frame for for glass. Hence I’ve found the two side pieces. I can get too and bottom rails, endcaps and screws from Mac for $380. However I’m not sure how put felt or rubber in the top, bottom , side frame pieces to cushion glass? Furthermore , the frame doesn’t seem to be held together with anything but the four screws that hold the chrome end cap on?

I didn't get hands-on experience with the 2205, I opted for a 2255 and 2155. I think the process and hardware are identical or nearly so. Terry's website (McIntoshAudio.com) has Tom's contact information. He's very friendly and likes talking about all things McIntosh. I took some notes but I've filed them away and it could take a little time to relocate. He'd know firsthand if there are any issues with specific regard to 2205 glass and its installation. If I told you something generic that was "mostly" right and you cracked your glass, I wouldn't want that on my conscience. I've worked on about ten or fifteen pieces of Mac gear, most of which I own or used to own and have since moved along. Tom and Terry have seen (likely) close to thousands.
