I had a problem with my Melos preamp and in my search to find answers, was the beneficiary of a couple email's from an audiotech named Mark Porzilli. He will soon have a business restoring Melos equipment and he is clearly bigtime qualified. I can also vouch that he sure seems like a decent guy as he wrote me at fair length regarding my personal Melos issue.

This is Mark Porzilli.
I bought all the rights and customer lists for all of Melos Audios 20 year history. You probably never heard of me as George was in the front, I in the back but I designed every piece Melos released from 1979-1999 & I designed the Upgrades for Melos Audio Restorations.
I wasn't meaning to toot my horn but the reason I bring this up is I am opening a Melos Support Center which will service and design new upgrades to bring that gear to current state of the arts.
It will be the only "authorized" Melos Audio service/upgrade center in the world.
Even equipment as old as your preamp will have upgrades designed for it. New circuit boards will replace the old ones with peeling foils & heat damage and overkill on reliability is one of our new imperatives. So confident in this, we'll even offer 1-5 year extended warranties. I'm hopeful that having a support company, that Melos gear will increase greatly in value as there are 14,000 Melos products around the world and I love them and was proud of them.
The new Melos Support Center website is not yet up nor is the facility completed but literally thousands are writing so we need to create a FCFS list to be fair.
There will be radical upgrades & many minor updates for every product we produced over our 20 years as the 3rd largest tubed audio company in the world.
I'd like to see the old circuit boards removed & replaced with pure triode boards with even triode regulated power supplies & triode capacitance multipliers of Teflon caps. It could make old Melos gear state of the art & beyond. I'm very excited about creating new Melos designs as I dearly loved the company & hated to see it close. I’m hoping we'll see Melos gear skyrocket past most modern designs now in production. And lets hope I'm not wrong!
I think our formal opening date will be a few months after the CES in January, 2008 but the best way to get your Melos gear repaired first, & while it's here, updated, is to get on this list. It grows daily & we can expect several thousand by the end of 2008 if they keep coming at this rate. Gear will be coming in from all over the world so I urge people to get on the list to shorten their waiting times.
