Just got a great deal on a set of NHT (Now Hear This) 1.3a Speakers with what appear to be NHT stands & a Nakamichi TA-2A Stasis Receiver. I believe the stands are NHT because the are shaped exactly like the speakers, a perfect fit, they’re nice sturdy stands with spikes on the bottoms. I’m really impressed with the 1.3a’s! I put them where I had a pair of Klipsch KG.3’s and it’s hard to say if they sound better but I’m surprisingly leaning towards thinking they do.. Gotta love the Piano black finish! They have an odd configuration, 2 drivers what appears to be a 6.5 and a tweeter but the tweeter is actually under the 6.5, i was a little skeptical but again I was surprised. Aesthetically, Definitely beautiful speakers, I like the unique shape of them as well. I’m using them as the rear speakers in a HT setup in my living room. Maybe they are just a better fit for this room than the Klipsch’s because I really like those speakers, just was definitely surprised by these NHT’s! I’m powering them with my Marantz MM-9000 amp, it’s 150WPC x 5 THX Ultra & Marantz SR5003 as preamp, The amp is an older one but I love it! It’s one of the things in my collection I will NEVER sell! Definitely impressed by the Nakamichi TA-2A aswell! It’s supposedly rated at 50WPC but it sounds like it’s more! It was built when Nakamichi was putting out really solid gear. It came with a working remote and a bag full of speaker wire, RCA cables and a nice FM antenna. Definitely happy with my purchase today, especially because I got it all for a song, one verse, no chorus! As seen in pics everything just needs a good cleaning, a little dusty..

A decidedly gushing review once said the NHT Zero's ".....are an introduction into true audiophilia."

I will say that my NHT Super Zeros, even without the sub/amp I also have, are just special speakers.

The review also recommended to forgo internal crossover on the sub/amp, and use chokes on the left and right. But, I think they sound just fine as-is.

I have to agree! I’ve seen them for sale but they were either to far away or the price was to high for me. Finally found a deal and I’m definitely impressed! Love these stands too, those spikes are usually not included and are not cheap! I’ve seen them for sale for like $25 for a set.. honestly, the stands are probably worth what I paid for everything. Definitely a good day today.

These don’t seem to be “high end” spikes but they get the job done. I’m thinking about getting some spikes for my Bose 901 Series II’s & my TDL RTA 3’s. The Bose have rubber feet now, I bet I could find some spikes to replace the feet & the TDL’s had them but the guy I bought them from Said he took them off because he didn’t want to damage his floors. Said he couldn’t find them but if he did he’d let me know, been 2 years so I guess he never found them..

You got a much better amp, I got better speakers and at 2 miles from home maybe a shorter ride when I got my NHT SB3 and JVC 50wpc receiver with no knobs all flat push pads with broken remote. The speakers are excellent, sound room worthy.

And you got nice stands well bought deal you got.

I just cleaned up the Nakamichi and hooked it up to some Bose 201’s and it sounds great! I usually use the 201’s to test equipment because they’re small and lightweight and they are actually a good match to this Amp. It would sound much better with a subwoofer hooked up. This TA-2A has preouts so I might do that. My new requirement is for any receiver/integrated amp that I purchase that it must have PREOUTS! That is unless it’s an incredibly good deal. To me that’s a good indicator that it’s a good receiver/integrated amp. Definitely happy with everything I purchased today. Would love to pick up a Nakamichi TA-4A!
