Meh....

I've cleaned lots of LPs on my RCM and it's not quick work. If the guy does one in 3 minutes for a brush, soak, scrub, rinse, dry and flip, he's making $20/hr less cleaner costs.

That's not really a huge killing....

Its not a bad idea actually. I doubt people are going to be beating his door down but if he can make a couple bucks here and there to help pay for the machine and supplies, why not?

I agree.
Good idea, good value for some people. Very enterprising guy (or gal.)
I doubt he'll get "rich" and it almost borders on one of those "why didn't I think of that?" ideas...........

Tom only charged a listen or two when he cleaned the records he borrowed. I got a new inner sleeve in the deal, too. Can't beat that.

I Know that Guy

He's a good guy who will do you right.
I have done a couple of dynaco upgrades for him and he's agood guy to get to know. if you have some real favorites or valuable records he will do those for you. Besides if you have 100's of records and don't have a record cleaner.......

Sounds like a fair deal to me too.

Another value of this service-for those who balked at the price of a VPI or similar (as I did), this can be a way to make in informed decision. Try 10 albums, and see if you feel it's worth it.

I read opinions and reviews till I was blue in the face. Actually trying one would have been a big help.

I did eventually go the RCM route-built my own utilizing a VPI wand. Having used mine, and now, finally hearing the difference, I would not hesitate to buy one-at full price even

There is record store near me that cleans records on an RCM for a buck. They also resurface CDs for a buck.

I've thought about doing this too just to make the hobby pay for itself a little bit. At $1 each it would be clean 2 and buy 1 at the thrift store.

I always wonder how people who have never posted before, all of a sudden pop up when they are mentioned on a forum because of something they have or did...amazing how that works.
