arrrrgh....

What might it cost to replace those bad drivers? I'm tempted.... very tempted!

I almost pulled the trigger on those this morning, but was scared off by the non-working woofer/mid. I could pick them up and hold them for someone if need be.

From Yamaha:
tweeters are $110, each.
mids are $220, each.
woofers are $170, each.
Mids and woofers are on back-order until next week (they think).

Having rewired my set (now with wajobu) with DHLabs 14ga wire, I can't think of any reason that the woofer or mid would not work unless it/they are blown. Everything inside on the circuit board for the X-over and the caps/inductors is/are hardwired. So there are no spades to fall off, etc. However, if it has been in storage the mid L-pad may be corroded and not working.

If you are seriously interested you might want to make contact so that you have the seller's info (e-mail address) in the event that the auction ends with no bids. I missed the bad drivers first time I looked. If both are bad and you get for the $400 that makes these an $800 set, which is about average. However, GordonW rebuilt one of the woofers for me for ~$100, IIRC. So you might save a few bucks there. And, there is always the possibility that there could be nothing wrong that a bit of cleaning might not fix.

Got 'em! Thanks for the lead Vint Age. Hopefully, it is a DIY fix and I'll try Yamaha B-2's suggestions. Anyways, cheap enough and there is money left over for repairs. I contacted the seller about packaging and he seems very cooperative. We shall see.

If they still make the drivers why doesn't Yamaha make some boxes sell them again? Advent brought back the New Advent Loudspeaker in the early 90s with an updated tweeter, crossover and cabinet.

You're welcome. We'll keep our fingers crossed for you and hope it's a simple fix to get those drivers going again. IMHO they are well worth it.:thmbsp:
