Nu Force uDAC 2 Clicking

I have this Nu Force uDAC 2 that I was going to give to a friend of mine as I have no use for it and he doesn't have a DAC. I plugged it in to my iMac where I use an Audioengine D1 and all I heard was a clicking sound with the music playing in the background barely audible. I tried out on my MacBook Pro with earphones and had the same results. I was using Qobuz to stream.

Any idea what this might be?
