Numark Pro TT-1, opinions?

I've been getting more serious into records and my collection has grown quite a lot! Unfortunately, I think it's time to upgrade from my Audio Technica AT-LP60. I found a Numark Pro TT-1. I realize it's a DJ turntable but I'm not looking for the highest quality. Is this a good option? Should I go for it or look elsewhere?

OK, you know this is part of the mass of "Pro" tables made in China (I'm not saying that's bad) and sold under different labels and through different marketing companies? I have an AT 120 from the pre-USB days that has been a real work horse in my used vinyl pre-view system. Mine spins 78's too. I see this one does not. If that is of no interest, you're good.

I would not pay a great deal for a used one. Maybe $100 if it came with all the original docs and such. I have no beef against these as work-horse tables. But I also have a TT much further up the food chain for critical listening - JVC QL-Y5-F with servo arm.

The main gripe about these tables is the arm and maybe some magnetic interference with GRADO carts and such. I have no knowledge about your growth path in vinyl, so this might be a real good fit with a better table in a few more years as you progress. tell us about where you see yourself in vinyl in 5 years?

Then again, if you are a rocker or have dance parties, this could be a real runner for all of that :)

Definitely a step up from the LP60 if the platter is not warped and the speed holds go for it if the price is right.

Actually, according to vinylengine, the Pro TT1 does have 78 RPM. I know because I almost bought one a few years back, and 78 RPM was part of the reason I was interested in it.

You should be shooting much higher in the quality realm if you are becoming seriously into records.

It's not a good option. Look elsewhere.
 
My personal opinion is just like illini said above. If you really are getting more serious then there is little to be gained by buying another bottom level deck. If you really want something better and not just different you'll need to take a much bigger step than this.

Not even that in this case, sadly. I used to have a Pro-TT1 alongside my SL-1210 when I started DJ-ing many years ago, and provided the music for a friend's house party in his first floor apartment. Both decks were using Ortofon OM Pro S cartridges tracking at 3g and the bouncy floor didn't trouble the Technics one bit, but if anyone stepped within six feet of the Numark, the stylus went bouncing across the record.
