Obsolete JBL Speaker, my first DIY project

**What I did to the speaker is now posted in the DIY section. Sorry, can't change the title of the thread.

Can anyone help me identify this thing? It's JBL, that's pretty much all I know. Found it at a demolition site in a mall. Don't know what the model is, the only legible writing is "TLX" on the tweeter and JBL on the back.

Lookin at a set right now, the station I work at uses them in one of the studios for monitors.

I have a set of 630s in my garage, same woofers X2 and the same tweeter. Not a bad sounding system, but definitely not in the same league as the L series. That tweeter can get a bit wild on occasion.

IIRC, the TLX series was usually the same as the J-series, just usually with 70 volt transformers inside, for distributed sound use (i.e, in a store or mall).

If they do have 70 volt transformers, those will need to be bypassed/removed to use with a "standard" amp (looking for 4 or 8 ohm speakers).

the tweeters i've seen of the same design were in many jblS in the
mid-later '80"S . that silvery cloth tweeter's been in my bedrooms, livingrooms, and car's strut towers. it can be very forgiving of a peaky recording , but
maybe not as accurate as the 035ti or 026ti .
