Odd fix for Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Hum

So I was just getting ready to record one of my albums to tape. The tape machine was ready to go, all the levels were set, and as the needle hit the record, through my headphones I hear the dreaded Pro-Ject hum. Of course I couldn't go on recording with that noise in the background so I begin to lift up the lid to pick up the needle. As I'm lifting the lid I notice that the hum had stopped completely! I set it down again and it came back. I open it all the way and it came back. I even took it off completely and it was still there. After playing around for a few minutes I eventually shoved a little folded-up piece of paper towel under the front corner of the lid, just so the front was lifted off the table a little bit. Tried it again with that in place and the hum was completely gone! If anyone else is having trouble with Pro-Ject hum, try this and see how it works.

(Tested using the lead-in/run-out grooves of Santana (Mobile Fidelity Release) and the U.S. model of the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon)
