Of flyback diodes and bypass caps

Steven Tate

So, after years of following rebuild threads here in the Marantz forum, I have noticed random use of flyback diodes on the amps, and bypass caps on main filter caps. I just wanted to get some feedback from people to see how they are being used. Do you use one or both of them on every unit? Do you never use one or both of them? Maybe just use them on higher power units? I know Marantz added the flyback diodes to many units as they saw a need. If you use them, what value caps, and what diodes do you use? Just wanted to see if there was some kind of consensus on this. Thanks!

I have flybacks on my 240 and 1200, simple 1N4003 will do. Followed the 250's service bulletin so I assume they would be good on any similar topology.

As for bypass caps usually 1uf to 2.2uf film does it for me. My 1120 doesn't have them and it is fine.
