Official O.B. Gallery.....bought or built, anything goes.

Six per speaker Tom? went to the Kyron link rob left me they have a speaker system using 6 per speaker no baffle I would pay money to have a listen to those......

Latest incarnation of OB's in the house. Lcao 6.5" on a removable baffle in frame.
I plan to make a bunch of different inserts that I can swap with the removal of the 6 hex bolts. Allows me to have a number of drivers on hand to play with. Legs are temporary, baffles will be standing using some sort of mid-century-modern legs at ear height and will be matched to my Eminence Alpha 15" H-frames that will be hidden inside an MCM console that I recently purchased (which is already gutted)

Love my OB's !!

Wow already 4 pages of OB goodness! I need to get mine posted.

I love all the different designs. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to change mine up. I've never liked my baffles and they were never intended to be a permanent solution. I need some inspiration. Actually I need an onsite audio advisor. I guess that's not going to happen.

I would advise you cubdog but I'm a complete newbie at this. My one and only pair turned out well only because I had outside help. Of course Poultygeist was likely my inspiration. I also had Dave Smith of JBL, KEF, Meridian, McIntosh, Snell and PSB etc. assist me with my design and technical aspects. Jim Griffin, audio Engineer who has written many white papers and was involved with many of the McIntosh designs also assisted me. So I was truly fortunate to have such pillars from the speaker/audio industry share their knowledge and experience with me. I am so very thankful to everyone who has so generously helped with my project and I hope you will have someone to guide you as well.

AA,

ctncanada,
i've heard great things about the LCAO drivers. what are your impressions?

I have about 20 hrs on them so far, and they are still opening up. I went with the ferrite magnet version, and I can say I am pleased. They work best with an active over as they do roll off a bit above 10k so I boost them there (I like bright sounding speakers). Very efficient and good voicing for $110/ pair can beat it.

Thanks Rob, your close enough I may have to kidnap you. I do need to say that I would never have gotten as far as I did with the help of our AK brethren. Despite the fact that mine are still basically incomplete, i.e. crossover-less, they sound great. Someday I hope to find someone who can help me find a solution.
Great thread though, thanks for starting it.

I'd love to work on a pair of OB's with you. I wish we lived closer. :thmbsp:

Here's a photo of my OB.

Those are beautiful cubdog! I love how there is so much grain in the wood. Are those Alpha 15's? Either way, maybe going with an H frame for the woofers would enhance the bottom end. What is the FR driver with the cone? With your tubes in the equation, I'm willing to bet those could really shine.

Hi Cubdog, Those OB's do look nice. I'm sure you've thought about one of those MiniDSP units. I'm thinking about one for my pair of speakers. I'm running without a crossover also, and love the sound, Fostex FE126En with Eminence Alpha.

Anyone out there running MiniDSP on their OB's?
