Hmm. "Mono". Isn't that a guy named Ming ? While you're picking up the Metragon, might as well pick up that old Scott all-wave radio and the KLH 9 electrostats and the WE 300b tube he has for sale too... Just bring $17,500.

Nice to know there's some great stuff like this in our area.. maybe one of those great estate sales that they have no clue.. like the C36's I picked up for nothing...

If it's the guy you mention, I've met him before when he had a pair of A5's for sale.... he knows great gear and what it's worth...

So go over, and inspect it very closely, ask them to hook them up, listen for a while, inspect them again, and after an hour or two scratch your head and tilt your head and say "lets make a deal"

He's been selling on ebay for a long time, and if it's the guy I'm thinking of knows --exactly-- what he's dealing with. Buddy of mine picked up a pair of Herb Keros design Ultralinear amps from him. Wow.:thmbsp:

Yea, I think a divorce would come shortly after for me to! (But you can still play with him!)

Nah.. there's no BS'in this guy... I looked at a beautiful pair of A5's he had... they started pretty cheap on the bay, but got insanely expensive in the last hour of the auction. He knew what he had when I went and talked to him. There was a pair of beautiful and perfect tar filled 1505's on top... I had offered him $2000 right there, and he said OK, that will buy the horns... I think they finished for something near $4000...

Yeah.. I know you could buy something a lot better sounding for this price... but you're not gonna find those with as cool of a retro stylish look....

There was one of those offered here this summer for $6800 (it sold with some MC-30s and other Mac stuff for $6000), but it was a hideous 1950's yellow green blonde color.
While I know it has huge collector's value, it's basically $600-800 worth of drivers in a rare piece of furniture.

Does this guy live in Annandale off Columbia Pike?

I'm not sure where he lives.. if he is the guy I'm thinking of, he had a warehouse just the other side of 95 from me down the fairfax parkway I went to look at the A5's at... He also dealt in high end restaurant gear..
