Ohm Acoustics model H woofer DIY project

Hello. I recently picked up a pair of Ohm model H speakers in VG physical condition. It was clear that the woofer and passive radiators weren't original, but what I found when I opened them up surprised me. Refoam jobs and cabinet restorations are about all I get involved with, so this DIY modification is way over my head. Any idea what's going on here? Is any of it good? I opened it up because I wasn't exactly happy with the sound. What was the goal/objective here? Thanks

That looks like Ohm’s SBA (Sub-Bass Activator) glued to the back of the woofer with scraps of Baltic birch plywood that they use for making their cabinets. Post photos of the woofers. That hack job of a separate crossover hot glued to the back of the woofer is exactly how the “upgraded” woofer comes direct from Ohm.

Thank you. Yes, I confirmed that it's an SBA with Ohm yesterday evening. Suggested it was work that might have done 20ish years ago. And they are still offering the same upgrade. It looks funky, but if it functions...then I am ok with it.

Putting an inductor close to a magnet (on it!!!) is a very bad idea...
