Ohm C tweeter and woofer photos needed

I bought a pair of Ohm "C" speakers today, and the tweeters and woofers like different from the ones on my Ohm C2's. The tweeters are about 1" and don't have the wire mesh over them. The woofers don't have "Ohm" labeled dust caps, and the magnet structure is different from the C2s.

The cabinets and grilles are 100% and need no work, and they don't appear to have been tampered with, but I'd feel better knowing the drivers matched those in some elses' Cs.

I'm still curious about the tweeters.

Unlike my C2s, the workmanship on the Cs looks kind of sloppy and amateurish. The tweeters are surrounded by what looks like clear latex caulking, and on one of them the hole into which the tweeter is mounted looks like it was originally cut for a rear-mounted tweeter. On the Cs the speaker face into which the drivers are mounted is made of MDF. On the C2s the face is covered in walnut veneer.

I can probably snap some pictures later. I've got a very early pair of C2's, the woofer cages are not the black aluminum of the later ones, they're plain silver colored.

Both of them had labels with serial #'s that had fallen off but were sitting inside the cabinets, you might look inside to see if you can find anything.

I'd call or email Ohm Acoustics in Brooklyn.
They're closed for the day now, but could give you their assessment of the different versions they built.
I have a pair in the closet at work with re-foamed woofers to install. I can hardly wait to get them up and running.

Here's a photo of the tweeter. It has a very fine screen covering the tweeter mechanism, which is about the size of a pencil eraser. See what I mean about the "amateurish" workmanship?

The spec sheet accompanying the speakers describes the tweeter as:

1" dome with 1" voice coil and 10 oz ferrite magnet (9400-gauss flux density). Virtually a point source, with nearly hemispherical dispersion and completely peak-free response.

The original owner swears the speakers were never touched nor grilles removed since the day he bought them and I have no reason to doubt him.

You are right about looking amateur but it does look like the tweeter in my I, not a dead ringer but close.

brainsmasher -- thanks for the reply. The Ohm site doesn't have a photo of this model, and the photo of it's predecessor the "B" is so small I couldn't tell for sure.

It always amazes me how sloppy some speakers look when you pop the grilles off of them! Kind of surprises me for Ohm. Oh well, maybe they were just starting out as a company when these were made.

I'm almost finished refoaming the woofers -- they look great if I do say so myself!

Just need to vacuum the coil out, glue the dustcaps down, and reinstall them in the cabinets. I can't wait to hear them! :yes:
