Ohm L's. SBA and Woofer upgrade or not?

I have a pair of Ohm L's that are in perfect shape but they are stock. I have been toying around with the idea of upgrading the woofer and getting the SBA attachment. Has anyone done this before? Is it worth it to replace the original woofer and also get the SBA or is it better to just leave them as original?
Just want some opinions before I pull the trigger.

As to is it worth it only you can decide if spending close to $400 on them is worth it.

Hey there Tabor. You asked , so I will answer. I beleive that the L model has an 8" woofer and a well built speaker. I have never heard the model L though. However, I own models i, H, C2, 3, 4, and 5. I like thier sound a lot, they just fit my room acoustics and my unordinary hearing. If it were me, I would grab the pair of C2 that is on " that site" if they are still available for about the same money. You will be up to a 10" woofer, and they are quite snappy, never bloated. I like my C2 speakers better than my L speakers.

My K2 speakers on a good tilted back stand are way more coherent than both!

Are those K model the same as the H? I think they were vinyl wrapped instead of the veneer if I remember correctly.

If so, Yea; I have my H's on 14" stands with a 4° angle, they are great.

The K is a vinyl wrapped H.

The K2 is a 2 way with an 8” mid-woofer crossed over to a tweeter around 3k.
It’s ported and has a SBA built into it.
The K2 requires that you be at woofer level or below.
That translates into requiring a 13 degree stand floor stand about 8-9 inches off the floor.

Cool stuff, looks like I will have to put a set on my radar. They never come up on the weat coast, or anywhere as far as a K is co concerned from my searches. Had to buy my H's of the bay, but am hesitant now because the double magnets on the 8" driver doesnt travel well (must weigh 8 lbs). It was heartbreaking.

Interesting read, thanks for sharing. I must sit on a stool to overcome a pool table, so the lower angle seems to work for my room. I had to chuckle the "100 watts" mentioned. My H handle the db well to 85 or so, then the quality starts to diminish a bit. But the C2, on the few times I let them sing, they gobble up 100 watts and are simply amazing for thier size imho, and stay clear and crisp, my ears quit before they do.

@Ohming Wow, hate to see that damage. Shipping box must have been hit (shocked) during shipping.

I assume you found a new woofer.
What happened to the remains of the damaged one?

I was able to realign and glue the magnet on one, the other I had the good people at Ohm repair, was quite reasonable and they are always great to deal with.

Yes, they have the SBA done by the previous owner. Suprising how deep and articulate they go. I will refinish the cabs this Fall, will send pics of course.

My stock Model H speakers go down to 30 hz.
I refoamed the passive inverted, like they were originally.
