Old Empire Odd-Ball Speakers (Not Round Type w/ Marble Tops)

No offense but I wouldn't sell them even if someone wanted them. They are that good! I'm not kidding. I'm still in shock.

Hey, haha... I'm not offended. In fact, I think this is a rare stellar moment in audiophilia: someone being happily satisfied with what they have. And I can say ESPECIALLY so because the happiness is derived from an off the beaten path "undesirable" (i.e. not a Tannoy, JBL... blah-ba-dee-blah-blah) vintage loudspeaker pair that many others would turn their noses up at.

Do you think 1950s or 1960s era?

My guess is late 50's judged on the styling, at the beginning of the stereo era. Maybe into the early 60's but not much later. I would love to own those. Now that I know they were made, I am going to find my own set.

They are Mid Century Modern with a bullet!

We're on the same page about this equipment then ARRAY. I wouldn't say that I'm a collecter either. I just happen to have really good luck; I'm at the right place at the right time... I absolutely love to find odd and overlooked equipment, get it cheap and drag it home to fool with it. I've seen a few of the 8200 woofers on Ebay here and there but I'm always broke when they are on there. Go figure! I was practically drooling when I saw the first set of them. I'm always selling and trading (flipping) most of what I get. Then it's another thrill of the hunt situation. If they are especially unique, heavy duty and sound good then I'll hold on to them. Even if they only have a few drivers that are good then I'll still get them and part them out to make my own projects. I admit that I do have a vintage stereo fetish; especially with speakers. But I'm very picky about the overall sound. If they don't blow my socks off overall, I will eventually get rid of them. I've got some new ones coming this week that I really don't know what they are. No markings or name but they look like either Altec 604s, Jensens or Utah 10 or 12 inch coaxials in the original boxes. I shined a flashlight through the covers and they have accordian type surround with multi-cell tweeter in the middle. Already paid for (Picked them up for $15) but am waiting on a way to get them home; no truck! Just big enough not to go into any of my cars.
