Old Koss Pro-4AA vs New?

I picked up these "stereophones" for a whopping price of 1$ at a garage sale. I ordered new foam to replace the painful original ones (i hear they were liquid filled and most just spewed at some point). I talked to Koss and they say they would gladly give me new ones in exchange for the old ones. My question is, would that be a good idea? I hypothesize that the old ones will be of better build quality, but i'm unsure of the sound. Thanks for any tips/information

The old Koss Pro4aa phones that I have sound excellent. They weigh a ton and are built like a tank. Many say the new pro4aa's sound pretty crappy, but I have not actually listened to a pair of the new ones myself. At some point they cheapened down,so,If you have a pair of the old ones, I would keep them.

Bought those new back in the mid-70's. They haven't spewed liquid and sound as good as the day they were new.

Like "Old Ears too" I bought my Koss Pro 4AA's back in the mid 70's. Somewhere int eh 90's I contacted them about having the ear cups and the top brace foam replaced. I sent them the phones and they repaired them for free, telling me they had a lifetime warranty. And I agree with "Rey1" that they ARE built like a tank and weigh a ton, but whenever I use newer phones I always go back to the Koss. I've even used them in my radio station work and they're very noise cancelling in the studio environment. I'll be listening to vinyl through them until I die and.
