Hello AK,

My name is Brian and I stumbled acrossed you all looking for used stereo reciever reviews. This is a renewed interest after many years. My wife and I just purchased a home and the previous owners left me a pool table. Voila! The man cave is started!

I wanted to go 2 channel for my room and decided on a Yamaha RX-596 receiver, purchased on Ebay for $69 shipped. Sounds like a nice unit to get me started. I am adding a pair of Polk Monitor 70 series II (Newegg deal I couldn't refuse)to it, along with a Yamaha cd-s300-rk cd/mp3 player. Getting started at a price even my wife couldn't refuse.

A little history before I stop rambling. I first really got into audio back in the late 70's when I purchased a Yamaha CR-620 receiver and a pair of Phase Research R's along with a now unknown turntable from a nice little store in Flint, Michigan, called Stereo Center. I later added a nice Yamaha dual cassette deck. These are all long gone, but my yearning for the sweet sound my little system put out has me coming back after many years. :music:
