OM 20 Vs Super OM 20

G’day all, I fired up one of my lesser used turntables today that coincidentally has an Ortofon OM10 Super installed. I haven’t listened to it for several years and listening to it again, it sounded just as I remember, ‘quick, fast and energetic’ with just a touch of bass ‘lightness’.

The bass ‘lightness’ was quite apparent compared to the ‘fatter’ sound of the Shure M97xE. Don’t you love all these cartridge sound ‘subtleties’? Regards, Felix aka catman.

Try adjusting your VTA as lower the tail of the arm a tad bit. I think you will find that bass filling in somewhat. Yes, I too love the subtleties...part of the fun ya know!

Pretty much the same here, with a Super 40. But on the high end it does present ALL the bad along with all the good. So if you've got a VG+ with barely audible pops & clicks as groove damage, you'll hear greatly improved sonics but the pops & clicks are also accentuated. Note: there is a Van den Hul stylus on it.

The VdH is only on the earliest ones. Most of the OM40's are FG.
