On-Wall Front Speakers Recommendations ?

Hello All,

I have an opportunity to mount speakers in my dining room. I don't have a ton of room and these speakers would have to be mounted pretty close to the ceiling... i don't have a lot of options. I've been searching through the old threads but can't find any consensus. I'm curious if anyone had any recommendations on a wall-mount main speaker that's not too big. I would definitely appreciate some opinions .. Thank you

For small, wall-mount applications, you might want to look at modern OUTDOOR-type speakers. I'm referring to the kind that you mount up high, like where the wall meets the roof/gutters. There are some rather-nice offerings for that purpose. I can't guarantee they will be exactly what you need, but you may find some dual-application wall-mount stuff that's designed to work inside AND outdoors. The only reason I mention this is because outdoor speakers don't necessarily have to deal with reflections from walls the way indoor speakers do, and I wanted to make sure you took that into consideration before making a decision.
 
Many speaker makers have made or are making on wall speakers particularly with home theater surround applications in mind. I'm currently listening to Boston Acoustic Bravo's, a wedge shaped speaker that goes down to 90 hz which means sub required which is the case for most if not all on walls. They also make the Soundware line, a smaller coaxial speaker which I also have and listen to hooked up to a SONY compact stereo.

Lest you think I'm just a BA fan, there are many other good on walls from Def Tech, Polk, etc. Often you can find these 2nd hand since there was a trend a few year back for every maker to have an on-wall speaker line when home theater was bigger than it is now.
 
The best sounding ones that I have heard were the B&W FPM series. Used market only now.
I have installed a bunch of Golden Ear on-wall speakers, and I think they all sound pretty wimpy, even when bolstered with their subwoofer.
