One channel Sansui, One channel Sanken...

...in my AU-919. The Sansui outputs are the proper NMA1012/NMC1012's , but the Sankens are 2SC1586/2SA909 sets, which cross reference to the big G series and big BA series stuff.

Unit sounds real good, but I am going to freshen it as per the threads here BEFORE it goes 'poof', and I think it makes sense to match-up both channels output devices.

I would like to trade some or all toward a complete set of proper Sankens (2SC2607/2SA1116)

Does Nicowico still have these on hand? EW? QuadBoB?

FYI, NMA1212/NMC1212 are Sankens also.

Yes, i know Sanken made them for Sansui, but I don't know if their suggested replacements, the (2SC2607/2SA1116) are sonically identical, same speed and such.

Here's a dumb question. What is the reason the 919 sports 8 output transistors vs 4 in the 717, 517? Is it merely to provide more power with less strain? Or is one pair speaker A left, one pair speaker A right, one pair speaker B left, one pair speaker B right?

The extra transistors are to share current and power.

That is one way of putting it, yes.

No - 4 for each channel R & L drive the right speaker and the left speaker, and both A & B at the same time.
