One cockroach and two snakes. Funny not gross

Before Christmas I went to my niece's home and made cookies/candy. It is our tradition that goes back to her childhood. Now we do this with her children.

Her husband, Tim, helped me carry the goodies back to my car and I was going straight to a client's home to give him and his wife some as a gift. I get to their house, carry the boxes into the dining room table and I am pulling cookie tins out of the box to arrange a tin for them when I see it: a large brown cockroach. :yikes: At second glance I see it is plastic. ;)

My niece and her husband have two small boys, ages 4 and 7. Lots of ammunition of creepy things in their house.

My mouth drops open and I say an expletive. The client thought it was hilariously funny. Sadly I tossed the plastic bug in his trash - after wards I think I could have used it on someone else. :scratch2:

My niece and her husband left town for the holidays. My sister came in town and was staying in their home to house sit for them. Hmmmmm - very handy for me. I went to the dollar store and bought two foot long colorful plastic snakes. Gave them to my sister on Christmas day and asked that she put one under Tim's pillow and one at about shin level under the sheet in their bed.

I leave on vacation. I am still away when niece and her husband arrive home on New Year's Eve after a long day of travel from Florida back to Missouri. They stay up late with their teenage daughter to see in the New Year, then head off to bed. My niece texted me the next day to report they found snakes in their bed and were pretty sure they didn't slither in their on their own. :D

I told her to tell Tim they were a gift from Aunt Darcy.

My house has a burglar alarm and no one has access to it. My one elderly neighbor has the garage door opener that allows her to put my mail on my washer/dryer, but no one can get inside the house without setting off the alarm.

So I am safe from retaliation. For now.

Artificial "creepy crawlies" can be a lot of fun.

Many many years ago the first wife and I vacationed at a rental house in Tennessee with her parents. Somewhere along the way up there I had picked up a fairly realistic rubber snake that was about 3' long. One evening after taking a short walk as the wife and I walked past the MIL's chair I dropped the rubber snake in her lap.

I had no idea that she (the MIL) could move that fast. Had she been in possession of a weapon I'd have probably been killed on the spot.

I'm still good friends with the ex-MIL (the ex wife not so much) and to this day she's not forgiven me for that prank. She does now laugh about it though so I guess we're making progress.

In junior high we had a dog that stayed in the basement rec room while we were gone. She would peridically place a gift on the floor. My dad was always after me for not picking them up when we went down to play.

My friend and I got a rubber turd, put it on the floor near where we were playing ping pong. Dad comes down, starts to chew me out for not cleaning it up. I reach down, pick it up, sniff it and lick it. Thought my dad was going to die. Too much fun!
