New release I'm told, a friend let me borrow a copy of David Gilmour: Live at the Royal Albert Hall 2 disc special edition dvd.

Special guests: David Crosby, Graham Nash,David Bowie and Robert Wyatt

I've never been a huge fan of PF only because it's done to death on the radio around here. I'm a little over half way thru the first dvd and am really enjoying it :thmbsp:

Gilmour actually did a world wide simulcast of this DVD, with a live feed interview - shown at select movie theaters in UK, Canada and US.

I went..was pretty dang cool. :thmbsp:

The only down side IMHO...Gilmour's new material is a bit too "adult contemporary" for my taste, but the Floyd stuff kills!!

That would have been great on the BIG screen or better yet in person :thmbsp:

I liked the new stuff "adult contemporary" it had a bluesy quality. My buddy at work explained that the lyrics on the last album were written by Mr Gilmours wife. :scratch2:

Walked into his "On an Island" show at Universal Amphitheater(burbank)
was about 5 minutes late, sat down and I'm like dam* that looks like Crosby singing with David, Oh Shil it is Crosby and sweet mother of jesus that's Graham up there tooo-WOOOOOOO !!!!
the version of "Find the cost of Freedom" they did with Gilmour(singing backing harmonies) still makes me shiver

ok if you have that dvd...you have to check out the acoustic version of echoes...absolulely amazing...i believe its an easter egg.

Almost all of disc one can get tossed, IMO. David (and the rest of the lineup on this gig) is limp without Waters propping him up like a mast.

Thank God 'Fat Old Sun' is on it. Disc 2 is a keeper.

But is it just my system, or does the color seem to bloom uncontrollably for most of the show? Horrible.

Cream, Heaven and Hell (Dio / Iommi / Butler / Appice) or Waters' latest DVD concerts both kill this release. Rent before you buy.
