Come Monday I'll have been here at AK for one year.
What better time to express my gratitude?
I had bought my first piece of real audio gear in almost two decades just prior to coming here when I purchased my Axiom M80ti's. Someone at the Axiom board sent me here (Haloeb maybe?) after I was given a Pioneer SX-1280.
The 1280 had issues that Echowars walked me through in chat, emails, etc. He has since become a friend as well as a SS guru.
You guys guided me back into vinyl as well. I bought a nice Dual from Nukemicrosoft and I'll never forget my absolute shock when I heard vinyl again for the first time. I was absolutely floored by music again! I went back and read virtually every post about turntables and vinyl. I was hooked. The Dual eventually gave way to a Well Tempered Classic which I discovered in large part due to Michael W.'s enthusisam about his. Grumpy came over and showed me how clueless I was in setting it up and I have it right (or really close) now. I love vinyl.
The 1280 gave way to McIntosh gear (MC2205 & C28) and I thought I'd found heaven.
Then came tubes. after borrowing a pre from Tubino, I sprung for a Foreplay and Seduction. I actually built something! solder, capacitors, resistors, voltage readings, etc. Holy crap! I struggle with changing windshield wipers but thanks to this place and Doc's great instructions I built audio equipment that actually works. And I got a free solder buzz in the process. The Foreplay sounded amazing to me and I was/am hooked. they replaced the C28.
I then bought a Rega Planet from Kam and found out digital (while still not vinyl) can sound very good after all so after some looking I purchased a Lector 0.5 CDP from Brian at Venus. My 300+ Cd's have never been happier.
And just recently I purchased Dehavilland Aries 845G's from Tubino. Wow, SET is as special as you guys said it was. I still can't believe reproduced music can sound this good.
You guys also showed me the ropes of Ebay buying and selling, which has really helped fund this little hobby. Packing, listing, testing, and buying - 100+ feedbacks, all positive and almost all audio.
Through the whole process, AK has been the jumping off place. I've found friends I can trust both near and far. I've gotten questions answered with patience and helpfulness. I've since visited other audio sites but none hold a candle to this place. Grumpy, Kam, and Wardweb and all the moderators make this a fun place to visit on a daily basis. No attitude is right on.
So, thanks to all for making my life a little richer with friends and great sounding music. Music moves my soul, it always has but the magic goes so much further when it sounds this good and when I have access to those who share the passion.
Oh yeah, I've also laughed out loud too many times to remember. a strange brand of humor here!
I can't even imagine what another year might bring.
Thanks to all.
