I heard this combo 25+ years ago and still remember how good it sound...
I was hunting for a unit and recently purchased this pair in Ebay from the US.
In my country 220 power is needed - on the case of the SOAP its printed 110/220 so I thought I will be fine.
I was very excited when it arrived but... once opening both units I found out that only the integrated unit is equipped with a dual voltage transformer but the SOAP even though it is stated on the cover - is not.
I'm reading everywhere that the SOAP brings it up from 30W to 60W.
I took it to a local highly rated vintage audio technician which made the needed change in the transformer of the integrated unit.
According to him from what he sees it seems that the SOAP does not raise the power of the unit.
He suggested to connect the SOAP with the dedicated cable in order to get the extra capacitors power of it but without connecting it to the electricity (bare in mind that its 110 and I will need a step down transformer in order to use it or replacing the internal transformer).
Is there any one here that can enlighten me regarding the SOAP connection? I was looking for a
fuse needs to be changed like in the Cyrus2 when connecting to the PSX, but there is none.
Is there any one that can explain if it really changes the unit strength or just add extra capacitors power?
Any help or explanation will be highly appreciated
