Onkyo 9090 operation questions please

Oh ye men of wisdom:

I picked up one of these very complex tuners (original model, not -II). I couldn't find the operation manual on the web; the service manual doesn't discuss the front panel buttons.

Can someone tell me please:

1. How do I start the autoscan? My understanding is that the tuner will scan the dial and put every usable station into a preset with the optimal APR settings. How do I make this happen?

2. Once that is done, how do I reassign the presets?

I salute members Xmatrix and dr*audio and bobschneider and others for their thread on alignment of the 9090-II. If I find the same problems as Xmatrix I will get an alignment.

On the Mark II, just press the Auto Memory button, and then press the first memory button you want to program. It will go up the line, filling memory slots. You have to manually change them if you want stations tied to different buttons. The APR settings are done automatically if you let it; whether that's stored in memory or when the station is actually tuned, I don't know.

I don't have a clear enough image of your model to know if it has the same button and procedure. My guess is it's similar if not the same.

Thanks! The procedure you described for auto-tune works on the Mark I also. For the presets, the Mark I has a red Memory button. Tune to the frequency you want, press the red Memory button and then the memory slot you want assigned to that frequency.

The Mark II service manual has some operation instructions; the Mark I service manual does not.
