Onkyo A-9555 problem. A little help please

I turned on my A-9555 integrated amp for the first time in months and it is doing something strange. It doesn't even try to come out of protection. Instead, the Stand By indicator light is on, along with the Loudness button light, the Pure Direct button light and all 7 of the Source indicator lights.

I first tried unplugging the AC cord for several minutes, plugged it back in and turned the On switch back on but with the same results. Also tried to use the remote to take the unit out of Stand By but that was no help. One guy in a forum said to hold the Source Direct button down and then push the Loudness button and then release both. That didn't help either.

Anyone out there have any other ideas before I disconnect everything and take it to the shop? Thanks.

Try the button reset procedure again this time press the and hold the pure direct and the loudness button and then press the power on button. Most reset to factory defaults require pressing a combination of a couple of buttons and powering on. Also make sure your remote batteries are fresh.

I've been getting into AV's about a year or so and as confusing as they are the reset usually fixes that stuff as a few conditions can cause some havoc in some digital circuits so that's why they designed in the reset. I think the main two issues are power gliches and interference. Interference was mentioned in the your user manual, power glitches are obvious risks to digital circuits. (not to mention lightning ground spikes.)

Might be worth burning the manuals to cd if you don't have them.

Hi Binkman,
Thanks for yr advise. I nearly wanted to throw away my Onkyo A9555. My set somehow was in the standby mode but there was no orange light at the 'pure direct' light. After many try, still seen the red stand by mode.,thought the set was spolit. Luckily, I saw yr advise & I follow. Thanks again,... :)
 
Oh my!! Thank you! A few days ago I turn on my amp and it popped and I got the steady standby light. I found what looked like a bad fuse. I replaced but still got that standby light. So before I put it in the trash I thought let me look up a solution on AK and voila!!!
