Onkyo A8300 power/watts!..?

anderslober

Yikes...not again!
Hi forum. I am finishing up an Onkyo A8300. See power/watt figures…..can that really be true? ??. Relay clicks OFF shortly after 37-38vAC measured at the dummy resistors. The lower picture shows the connections and a voltage of 30vAC across the dummy load. Is this correct? The vpp on the scope is way higher. I thought it would be the same as measured across the dummies…..am I not understanding this correctly..?

Scopes read peak to peak voltage, which is 2.828 times RMS. Meters are typically RMS.

Meter accuracy at audio frequency is a concern. Some get pretty bad over a couple hundred hz.

FWIW, the specs for the meter should list the qualified frequency range (+/- % and maybe counts) for AC voltage measurements.
