Onkyo Amp volume knob loose

Hello,
I have an Onkyo A-7 amp from the early 80's that I was in the process of cleaning, and I noticed that the volume knob is a little loose. I checked the pot that the knob goes into, and it wiggles a bit as if some mounting screw is loose, but I don't see any. Any idea how to tighten this back up again? I thought perhaps the knob had shifted on the shaft due to a loose set screw down in the small hole on the knob but the knob doesn't move on the shaft at all. Any advice on this, or any thing else I might due proactively to prevent problems later on would be appreciated.

Otherwise, the amp is great, and paired with my T9 tuner, it's silver heaven!

If you take off the knob,around the shaft there should be a flat nut that keeps the volume pot to the chassis.I believe that the nut just got loose.

Yes, (usually) the pot is mounted on the front panel by a pin going through a hole on the face plate. a hex nut is used to fix the pot by shaft onto the face plate. The nut got twisting a lot and is loosen out. So tighten the nut to fix the volume pot.

Sometimes you have to remove the front panel to get to the mounting nuts for the controls. If you're lucky there will be a large hole that the volume knob fits into and when you remove the knob you will see the mounting nut.
