ONKYO C7030 1st sound report OUTSTANDING

Pluged in my new Onkyo C7030 CD player this am for a 1st listen. I was NOT disapointed.
Ran it thru a Eico HF85 tube pre and Magnavox 9302 tube amp.
Sound is outstanding and well worth the 180 no shipping paid.
Been running a Pioneer 100 disc carosel thru a $400 Dacmagic
DAC with dual DACs for greatly improved sound from the Pio.
But the Onkyo is every bit as good if not better sounding.
More listening is in order and much to be enjoyed.
If you been thinking of a new CD player, this is the one to get.
You won't be dissapointed.
Only complaint is the terribly small letterng. Virtually invisable in low lite.
I guess the remote compensates for it tho. It does everything the front panel does.

So, you are running it through its own analog out, using the built in DAC, and it's sound is better than the Dac Magic? That might be worth looking into. I was thinking about buying a CD transport, but this may be a better buy.

yes running thru analog out to pre/pwr .
using internal wolfsun dac.
The Pio. runs thru the Dacmagic for enhanced Pio. performance, which iit does with great SQ results.
Both sound grate just diff to small deg. but maybe abit better.
Am very happy with the Onkyo 7030.

I've had my C7030 for nearly a year and I'm very satisfied. I've run it (as a transport) through the digital out/coaxial and through the analog out...with pretty comparable results. (My Onkyo integrated amp runs the same Wolfson 192 kHz/24-bit DAC as the CD player, so the differences are expectedly subtle.) Either way, it's an impressive value. Sonically, there's a clarity that never sounds overly bright or unnatural, but just right to my ears.
