Onkyo direct drive turntable

Has anyone experience with an Onkyo PL-33 or similar direct drive turntable? It seems a dearth of information. For instance for a 1982 model TT , can I expect good reliability for a lot longer. Or is there some weakness in this or other Onkyo direct drive turntables that I will eventually have to face. Thank you

Never had that model, but Onkyo didn't put a lot of effort into their TTs. Some of their very top of the line tables seem nice, but most everything else is mediocre. IMHO, they were pretty much great at everything else but turntables.

I've got an Onkyo cp-1046f which is a decent TT. Rather plasticy, but runs well and holds speed. It's got a Stanton 680EL cart in it and sounds really good. It had a common problem where a tonearm gear disintegrates which disabled the automatic functions. Luckily there are people at the big auction site selling good 3D printed replacements. Took some fiddling to get it running right and now it is in temporary rotation while I work on several other TT's.

Not familiar with other Onkyo models, but the one I have is pretty ok after repair, adjustment, and cleaning.

I’ve also been using one of the onkyo cp-xxxx something automatic belt drive TTs for over a year now. It squeaked when I got it from GW, and the buttons were sticky but after a couple rounds of WD40 and deoxit it’s been ok.
Thanks for the replies.
