Onkyo DX-702 Scratched CDs

I don't know how this player can do this, but my DX-702 can pretty much play any CD no matter what condition it's in. Most of my CDs are in pretty good condition, but I have a few that are pretty torn up. The DX-702 plays them perfectly. Has anybody else ran into players like this, or seen the same from their player.

My Denon DCD-1500 can play pretty much anything.

I heard somewhere that the laser reads slower on this machine. Not sure if it's true or not I just know it never skips.

At the other end of the spectrum, I had the Sony CDP-111. That thing demanded you treat your CDs like the most expensive, rare vinyl or else...

Have had Technics M.A.S.H. players and Magnevox players that deal well with abused discs.
