Onkyo file for bankruptcy

[petejk]

Is this the end for Pioneer branded receivers and hifi components?

I wonder what this will do to the prices of some of the gear that's out there on the shelves still

Traditionally, it would raise prices. Parts will also become a premium.

I have an old onk amp with the big meters.

This kind of thing was inevitable because everyone makes the same big monster 23.3 wi-blue stream-o-movie giganto-remote thing we used to call a receiver.

The Harmon gang have the GM advantage of many brands. But everyone makes the same thing. Unless someone in this Best Buy type space decides to innovate, there will be more to disappear or be swallowed.

Another one bites the dust.

Situation must be real bad with Onkyo. This is the second time in three days they filed for bankruptcy.
