I found an Onkyo M-501 amplifier, P-301 Preamp with T-401 Tuner, DX-C104 cd changer and a TA-RW303 dual cassette deck........... in near mint conditon with Audioquest cables, manuals and Onkyo rack with glass door, picked it up for $100 are the amp and preamp decent........they sound good but wondering if anyone else has had any experience with them?

Over the years, I don't think I've ever heard anything bad about Onkyo.
Seems like opinion is that Onkyo is good quality in terms of reliability and musicality.

The amp, you'll notice, although not a heavy unit, looks and sounds great, and is very reliable.
I see the amps for sale for $150-$200 alone.
$100 forceverything is fantastic.

in my experience, that amp is better than what was built into my Onkyo TX-SR601 receiver (from a few years back) but not too close to the older Integra amps, which were very solidly built. i had the M-5060RS for a while which i thought was pretty good. for $100, you certainly did well though. i think i ended up selling my M-501 for ~$150, IIRC.

Onkyo made some real nice gear, though my preference as far as onkyo is their integra series but this definitely a nice setup especially for the price of $100. As thedelihaus said that amp alone sells for double that. :thmbsp:

I've got the same amp/pre/tuner from a CL buy a few years ago and I paid a bit more. Nice system. I'm using the pre for the bedroom system and TV sound and the power amp is in a second system in the living room.
As stated, not Krell but nice gear that is powerful enough to do what needs to be done.
