Onkyo Integra A-8019 integrated amp. Found one locally for $100. Are these any good? Can anyone describe the sound of this particular model?

Are they... Thin? Full? Warm? Smooth? Analytical? Cold? Bright?

How would it compare with a Denon PMA-900V?

Thanks,

Excellent amp, although I don't know if one is worth $100 unless it's in tip-top condition. It is, after all, going on 30 years old and may have "issues". Not remote capable either, IIRC, if that's a concern.

Not thin or bright by any means. I find Onkyos in general to be neutral, although it depends on your speakers. Not warm either - not like NADs, f'rinstance. Overall, I've never heard any glaring differences between the Onkyos and Denons.

Full disclosure: I own an A8200, a few years on from the one we're discussing. I'm very happy with it.

Happy trails,
Larry B.

I have an A-10 which pre-dates the 8019 by a few years. I am not familiar with the 8019 but the A-10 is renowned for its build quality, dual mono design, and has been bullet proof. It also has a neutral sound signature. I'm not familiar with the Denon amp so I can't offer an opinion. Maybe you could ask for some pics of the internals of each to get a better idea of build quality etc.
