Take the same money, perhaps a couple hundred more......buy a Classe CA-200 or CA-201. Far better amp and easily serviced by Classe in Canada.

Best,

Paul :thmbsp:

Your opinion. IMO the Classe's would only be better than a dead Onkyo Grand Integra M510.

LOL it's my friend Mark. Can you post your listening experiences with Classe amps? Levinson amps? Grand Integra M-510's, How about a Grand Integra M-508? Hafler XL-600? Hafler DH-500? Krell FPB-600? McIntosh MC250? McIntosh MC-2000? How about Crown? Soundcraftsmen? Do tell Mark. :smoke:

My old buddy Paul. What's your experience listening to the big Onkyo?

Hello Mark:

Your folks must have never taught you proper etiquette. Never answer a question with a question.

Regards,

Paul :thmbsp:
Now don't insult my family buddy ol' pal! No reason I need to play your "answer my list of questions" game. Thus my rejoinder with a question.

$1350 for an amp missing an entire driver board? What's this guy smokin'? It's not worth a nickle more than $50. Somebody is going to have to capture the schematic and design a PCB, then populate the board, trying of course to find the same parts used on the other board. On the other hand, if one were to do that, one could start a nice little business building replicas of these amps...:scratch2:

The amps value is as a parts unit. I believe an AK'er who owns an M510 is waiting for the seller to bring the price down.

Good points. What you have there is a $1350 doorstop. Of course, the amp is "rare". In this case sales did not warrant further production. The seller states that "maybe" an Onkyo parts center "may" have the parts needed. Of course, at some point in time pigs "may" fly as well. :D

I believe mark refers to me ;). AK member Onkyo_ron posted about it an other thread. I have a 510. Sonically it's superb. I haven't heard Classe personally, but sonically it bested some pretty nice Luxmans, Sansui's, Yamaha and others. The former owner which I met personally when I picked it up and hung out to listen to his system, had three massive Krells and mentioned that the highs were a bit harsh on them compared to the M510. I heard with my own ears, the M510, push a pair of MBL 101-Es with absolute EASE.

That fact, combined with rarity and beauty makes me feel the M510 is in a separate "classe" all by itself. :D I am biased though.

It's crazy what the seller did ending the first auction and re-listing it for more. The seller originally listed at $999 opening bid. I'm sure he had PLENTY of interest which is probably why he did it. $$$ rules all. Funny thing is that it's dead. Unless one is ABSOLUTELY sure they could procure a replacement board or have a talented tech make one up, it's worthless for stereo. It does contain some value for me as I have a perfectly working 510 and it would be nice to have a parts unit, though I'm not so sure I'm willing to accept his opening valuation.

These Onkyos GIs are a rare breed indeed. No Elite or ES ever came close to these. I have a A-G10 GI integrated, and it scares me to think that some day something can go wrong with this beast. :worried:

Yes, but yours has all the boards...

WOW. It actually sold for the BIN $1500.00. Ebayer who bought it is from Italy. I'm pretty sure the seller didn't want to ship this out of the country. Buyer is going to pay through his a$$ to get it if he/she is legit to begin with. Incredible.

No but there was a p388 in the same color scheme I beleive. yes its not an exact match but overall not a bad substitute
