Onkyo T-9

I recently aquired an Onkyo A-10 Integrated amp. I have an Onkyo T-4 tuner which was the matching tuner for an A-5 that I used to own. My question is that the T-9 is the matching tuner for the A-10 and have been thinking about finding one. How much of an improvement over the A-4 could I expect? is it worth the upgrade?

Cheers!

I have a t9 and it picks up stations well and generates a good sound source. Looking at comparison pictures I don't see too much difference from the t4 but have never heard the t4. I scored on a set of Onkyo p303 pre e30 eq and u30 pre enhancer and the t9 came with it. The actual matching tuner for my set is the t909 but good luck finding one as I have been looking for 2 years. One of the rarest tuners out there.

The biggest difference in these is the servo lock tuning on the T-4 vs. the quartz lock tuning on the T-9. MSRP of 209 vs. 300 back in the day. Little difference in value today.

Will it make a difference in your system...yes, by 5.

Is it necessary to move from the T-4 to the T-9? That depends on is in your area to pick up. A T-4 with an outdoor antenna will blow away a T-9 on the dipole.
