Onkyo TX-5000 missing front glass plate

Hi all,

I am a new member to AK and want to say thanks for all the help I have garnered reading this site. I just purchased a fully functional Onkyo TX-5000 but the front glass plate and the attaching screws are missing. This receiver is a beast and I love the way it makes my EPI M150s sing. Do any of you know where I might find this elusive glass plate? I have searched for days and also emailed a seller of vintage Onkyo parts on ebay. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Other than wait for one to show up for sale on eBay you could have one cut by a glass supplier. I did this with a TX-8500. It was not exact as original but it was close enough and looked good. See the TX-8500 in my Avatar.
I have a TX-5000 and could provide measurements of the glass if you need that.
 
Thanks for your quick response. If it wouldn't be too much trouble I would really appreciate if you could send me the measurements of the TX-5000 glass. I replaced a newer digital Cambridge Audio receiver (100 watts/ch) with this vintage TX-5000 and was blown away by how much better the sound was, especially the phono function. How much punch that monster TX-8500 of yours must have! Thanks again.
 
Length = 21 3/16 inch
Width = 2 7/16 inch
You could fab up a piece of 1/4 plywood to that size and from there locate where the screw holes would be. Simple if you take the faceplate off. This will be critical for the glass supplier to get accurate.
I actually had the original TX-8500 glass with a broken corner that the glass guy used to replicate. Even with that it was super close to not lining up and took some shifting around to get all four screws to go thru...barely!
To make the screws you could try using something like this nut and epoxy some threaded rod. The nut is rounded while the Onkyo are flat but have that same ledge. If your real good you could grind the dome down flat and weld the threaded rod thru the top and grind it smooth.

Rubber washers you might find at a hardware store or just cut them yourself.
