Onkyo tx 5000 vs Pioneer sx - 3800

I just picked up an Onkyo tx 5000 as part of an ebay system :music: . I am quite impressed with the clean styling and power of this reciever. I set it up next to my pioneer sx 3900 and it was outclassed. But I wondered :scratch2: how this 65 WPC reciever would stack up against the 3900's little bothers the 3700 or 3800? I know Fouroscan is hard to beat but has any one ever run them side by side?

Onkyo tx-5000 vs sx-3800

Uriah , I have never owned a sx-3800 but have compared the TX-5000 to several other Pioneer receivers and I can tell you the Onkyo will compete with them all , the tuner in the Tx-5000 is excellent . Gary .

The Onkyo is growing on me

I've got a few hours on the Onkyo now and I have to say I am impressed. The tuner pulls in all the area stations as well as my sx 3900. The amp seems deep and balanced and is a good match for the cellestion ditton 44's it came with. The styling grows on one though I can't understand why they went so wide?

At the 65 wpc range the Onkyo will be as good as the best and better than the rest. I had one and thought it was a tremendous performer.
